What does dramatherapy look like?
Dramatherapy is type of creative-arts psychotherapy.

Are you ready?
Therapy is a choice, it works best when you are ready to try. You will never be forced to talk. The first session starts by making an agreement. To build a safe space together we will discuss our expectations of boundaries and agree on the rules of the dramatherapy space.

Stories
You don't have to do all the talking, your Dramatherapist may use metaphors or tell stories. You have the freedom to tell as much or as little of your story as you want.
You may even co-create a story.

Take your time
Your therapist has a plan, you are the priority not the plan. If there is anything you don't find helpful try not to bottle it up, bring it up so changes can be made. Therapy is a space for you. Don't be afraid to interrupt.

Games
We think differently when we are playing. As well as talking dramatherapy may be full of games, to invite your whole-self to the process of self revelation.

Talk to your people
You can talk about your sessions freely. Therapy may be temporary, part of the work may be looking at your social network, and the people you trust and thinking of ways to expand your network of safety outside of therapy.
Unless you or someone else is in danger your therapist will keep your conversations private.

The Body
Dramatherapy is an embodied practice. This means inviting awareness to the body and the mind by moving, grounding and practicing mindfulness.
